Martha Tabor Roberts passed quietly on November 25, 2018 of complications related to Alzheimer's disease. She was 72.

Born in Norfolk, VA on July 28, 1946, Martha was a self-described "Air Force Brat" who grew up in various parts of the world making friends everywhere she went. While attending high school in Wiesbaden, Germany she met her future husband Charles Anthony Roberts. They had three daughters.

Martha graduated from the University of Oregon with a BA in Journalism in 1985. She went on to attend law school at UO, becoming a Public Defender upon graduation. She spent the next 12 years defending the rights of the underserved. Martha was an active supporter of the Democratic Party, Planned Parenthood, OPB, and the Nature Conservancy. She loved to travel and spent much of her free time in Mexico and Hawaii.

Martha is survived by her sister Sharon Morris of TX, her daughters Christie Roberts, Amber Roberts Thornton, and Jennifer Roberts Ocker, as well as three grandchildren, Jace, Avery, and Colette. At her request there were no services and her remains were donated to scientific research.

When I was a young attorney struggling to find my way, Martha took me under her wing and offered her guidance, support and mentorship at a time when I really needed it. Later, Martha took the time to encourage me when I was doubting my ability to make a significant career change. She convinced me to believe in myself and my abilities. More importantly, Martha served as a role model of what it means to be a strong, capable, and kind human being and woman. I would not be where I am today had it not been for Martha and I will be forever grateful to her. I was sorry to hear of her passing. She spoke of her daughters often and I know how much she loved you.

Jennifer, Amber and Christie - I am so sorry to hear the news of your Mother's passing. Even though I hadn't seen her in many years, I feel great sadness for the loss of an impressive woman - someone who I admired not only for her pursuit of education and a career, but mostly because of her role as your Mom. I remember her from the early years of the Veneta clinic when Steve worked there. She was an incredibly beautiful person. We are both so sorry for your lossplease know that we are thinking of you and your families. Susan & Steve Sertic
